With all of the spring flowers in our yard and their beautiful colors, the wisteria on my arbor has to be my favorite. I wish you could smell the sweetness of the gigantic flowers.
The arbor is 50 feet long and my husband and I built it in 1997. I planted tiny wisteria vines at each post and trained them to climb the posts. Once they reached the top I regularly prune shoots growing below the top of the arbor.
If you think you would love to have this in your yard, think hard about it. The hours upon hours I spend maintaining these gorgeous flowers is not for everyone. Wisteria is a vine and they don’t ever stop growing, in every direction.
I have no regrets planting my wisteria because I have had the time over the years to maintain them. When the flowers open it is an amazing view and scent that makes the work worth every minute I spend on them.
