
Here’s a trick that takes the guesswork out of determining when frying oil is hot. Simply place a kernel of popcorn in the oil as it heats up. The kernel will pop when the oil is between 350 and 365 degrees, just the right temperature for deep frying.

If you attach a double strip of masking tape across the top of dry ingredients container, you can use it to level the measuring spoon.

When the small lid to a bottle of syrup, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, salad dressing or the like sticks and won’t unscrew easily, try using a nutcracker to grip the lid to release the lid.
