Cherry season has ended but my frozen sour cherries have not! A classic Cherry Crisp recipe with old fashioned oats crumb topping baked in a 8” x 8” dish that’s perfect for dessert or a sweet treat. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and really wow your family!

Spray an 8” x 8” baking dish with cooking oil.

In a large bowl toss the cherries with lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract and almond extract.

Pour cherry mixture into prepared baking dish.

In another bowl combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.

With a fork stir in the melted butter until wet and crumbly.

Sprinkle oat mixture evenly on top of cherry filling. Bake in a preheated 350º oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Let cool at least 15 minutes then serve. Delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
